Start with the five timed acts, branch to the cow level or Cain rescue, then move to Terror after Hell Baal. The official wiki describes 24 quests as well as the run clock. The route below explains the Scroll of Inifuss question without importing the original Diablo II recipe by mistake.
Three pages, three questions
Act progression answers “where is the boss and how long is the clock.” The cow level answers “how the red portal opens,” and it is not the Diablo II cube recipe. Endgame answers Terror floors, Hardcore death, and what a ladder submission contains.
Scroll of Inifuss: rescue Cain across two runs
If you searched for “scroll of inifus”, the item is Scroll of Inifuss. These instructions are from the official quests page for build 20261028.2, checked 29 October 2026; no independent walkthrough was confirmed.
In Act I, defeat Treehead WoodFist, then take the scroll from the Tree of Inifuss. Back in camp, give it to Akara to receive the Key to the Cairn Stones. In a later Act I, defeat Rakanishu and walk over each of the five stones in any order. The last stone opens Tristram. Enter, find Cain on the automap, and click or walk into his gibbet. Return to Akara for the ring.
Take the scroll and enter the Tristram portal before killing the act boss or leaving through another portal, including the cow portal: those actions remove the tree, stones and portal. Tristram pauses the act clock. The key remains available for another attempt if you leave without rescuing Cain.
Quest rewards worth distinguishing
Cain’s other quests are feats within runs. A Horadric Malus pays for a Charsi Imbue; a Token of Absolution pays for a full re-draft after a first Baal kill. Books, Tomes and resistance or life rewards affect the class that earned them. A copied quest item does not grant a reward Cain has never awarded that class. Read the official reward table before spending a scarce item.
Questions and answers
Are there quest rewards to optimize?
Yes. The official quests page lists six for each ordinary difficulty and six for Terror. Cain pays most rewards; Akara pays the rescue ring. Rewards can grant permanent class benefits. These are official single-source rules.
