Runewords in D2 Survivors

Updated 2026-10-29

Changelog build 20261028.2 is the entry that says runewords drop already made, all 78 of Diablo II's, with no runes, sockets, or white bases to gather. I read that line in changelog.json and the matching rules on the items wiki the same day. The top three names people ask about, Enigma, Grief, and Infinity, are in the wiki's item-level 86 group.

Where the top six runes can fall

The items page limits runewords that use Lo, Sur, Ber, Jah, Cham, or Zod to item level 86 and above. Enigma, Grief, and Infinity are the examples it names. In Terror every drop is already past that line. In Hell, only bosses, the deepest areas, and elites after Act I qualify. Each runeword keeps its own stats plus the stats of the runes it represents, and it sits on a base of the right type, sometimes ethereal. The changelog says the very top of that list, including those three names, drops only in Terror. I am keeping both sentences: the wiki's item-level gate, and the changelog's Terror-only line for the top names. They were both on the official host on 29 October 2026.

Questions and answers

Can I make Enigma in the cube?

No. Runewords drop finished. For top runewords such as Enigma, the wiki describes an item-level 86 gate, while build 20261028.2 says Terror only. Those official statements differ; the sources and their wording are kept below rather than treating Hell availability as confirmed.

How often versus uniques?

The items page says a runeword is rolled after a unique and before a set, at 25% of the unique probability. It also says Hell worked out near one runeword per 4.5 uniques. That Hell ratio is the wiki's own report.

Source scope: the official site, FAQ, wiki and changelog share one publisher. Build IDs, installer sizes and detailed mechanics are single-source official claims unless a separate independent reference is identified. Several official links do not count as independent confirmation.
